all my wishful strides
come with rules and rigid collars
and buckle at the exit sign
and every vulgar cry
turns to safe and sorry fodder
to validate my bottom line
won't you leave a place in history
for all i'm putting off
feel i'm swimming in some cold rejection
with a military cough
thought i was foolproof
i was always on a roll
soon i'm coming up empty
like i ever had control
never had control
good thing my mind moves at
a mile minute now
through the smokescreen
this will always be my burden to bear
now everything i try
is just seconds, minutes, dollars
is headed for the exit sign
and every bitter sigh
born from those who never bothered
is code for "yeah i'm doing just fine"
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
